Marian is inaugural president of Benalla Art Gallery Friends

Guest Speaker: Marian Staughton (First President of the Friends of Benalla Art Gallery)
Join the Friends of Benalla Art Gallery to celebrate 30 years of close friendships and great memories. This event will be an opportunity to learn about the history of the Friends of Benalla Art Gallery and their support of the Gallery’s wonderful Collection.
Marian Staughton was always a staunch supporter of the Gallery and was married to Sam Staughton, a Benalla farmer and recognised artist, whose work is represented in our Collection. Marian became the first President of the Friends when the previous group, called the Art Gallery Society, decided it needed a more inclusive name.
Full of enthusiasm, Marian took the helm of the Friends and heartily arranged parties, fundraising functions, and plenty of fun social activities in the Gallery. Marian will recount those years, reminding us that art comes in all forms and to enjoy and support our Gallery for the next 30 years with new inspiration.
