This class will introduce you to the basic techniques of drawing a portrait. The focus in this class will be to develop an understanding of the proportion, placement and shapes that make up the human face. You will be guided step-by-step through this process as you develop a base drawing of a head frontal study.
Following this drawing, these basic techniques will be applied to developing a portrait study of a model with instruction in the application of tone to bring a face to life.
All materials will be provided. Please BYO lunch.

About the Artist:
Janet Leith is a contemporary visual artist and art educator based in north east Victoria. Primarily a figurative and portrait artist, she is also inspired by her natural environment and the presence of the figure within. Her work regularly focuses on capturing a moment in time and place as she explores movement, mood and colour whilst studying the human condition.
