Saturday 9 December, 10.30AM–1.30PM

Join Wendy Jagger in the Benalla Botanical Gardens for an afternoon of painting en plein air (in the open air). Drawing on the many botanical specimens and vistas in the surrounding gardens you will explore the local landscape and learn painting techniques using gouache. Wendy Jagger is an experienced artist and art educator, and will tailor her teaching to suit your skill level.

About the artist:
Wendy Jagger is a renowned ceramicist and painter from Mansfield, operating Wendy Jagger Studio. She explains of her practice, “I have always recorded the environment around me and how it makes me feel. I am particularly drawn to dramatic, rocky landscapes and love the immediacy of plein air painting, capturing the light, shapes and colours of what I see before me.” Wendy has exhibited extensively throughout Victoria and New South Wales, and is a previous winner of the Mt Buller Art Prize judged by Patrick McCaughey, Robert Nelson and Peter Rancie. She has been a finalist in noted juried exhibitions including the Calleen Art Award; Muswellbrook Art Prize; Victorian Craft Award; and Wyndham Art Prize. Her work has been collected and commissioned by public galleries, including the Bendigo Art Gallery, and the 150th Anniversary commemorative vessels commission for the National Gallery of Victoria Shop.
