Saturday 8 August, 10AM—4.30PM
This is a technique-based workshop suitable for beginner and intermediate coloured pencil artists who want to improve their current skill level. Using elements from nature and a hands-on approach, Karen will take you through the techniques she uses to produce her realistic colour drawings. Sharing her tips and skills, you will develop the beginnings of your own reference guide to assist with your coloured pencil drawings – including colour selection, blending, layering, mark making and more. Discussions will also include ways to begin a drawing, differences in paper and how to analyse your own progress. All materials will be provided, including subject matter. Please bring lunch, snacks and a drink.
About the Artist:
Karen Brown is an Albury‑based artist whose work is inspired by the natural environment along the Murray River. Her highly detailed drawings encourage viewers to notice the fine textures and tiny details in everyday natural and man‑made objects. A Resident Artist at Art Gallery on Ovens in Wangaratta, Karen’s work is held in public and private collections. She recently won an award at the King Valley Art Show for her graphite drawing Winter.
