Coinciding with the nightly screening of the Alyce Platt music video Someone’s Daughter on the external projector throughout March, join us for a special concert to celebrate International Women’s Day, featuring Alyce Platt live on stage in the Ledger Gallery.
Alyce Platt is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, guitarist and actor who presents her original music and artistic pursuits through the lens of the Indie-pop artist. In this last two years, without planning to, Alyce began work on what has now become her third album—Bain Douche—a low-fi, quirky, intimate collection of re-imagined gems connecting in a strange way to what we were all going through. Recorded daily on her iPhone in the echoes of her bathroom, they have now been expanded into an album featuring some of Melbourne’s finest musicians.
At this show, Alyce will mix her originals with the Bain Douche interpretations, the full array of what makes her music beautifully tick. The centrepiece of the performance will be the enigmatic Someone’s Daughter—written by Alyce Platt and included in the extraordinary documentary Journey Beyond Fear. Both emotive and heartfelt, Someone’s Daughter is performed with passion and intensity by Alyce and brings home the difficult journey many refugees face from a female perspective.
Joined by Clare Moore on vibes and Stephen Hadley on bass, come and see Alyce Platt bring this powerful song to life.
