Step into the enchanting world of Danielle Dalkin with our featured Galley Shop exhibition The Plaster Conservatory throughout February. Located in Mount Beauty, Danielle is a self-taught artist who plays with living materials, clay, and plaster to create unique dimensional images, digging beneath her feet to bring new perspectives to the surface. The artist explains, “I observe and capture the exquisite details of nature as ‘fossils’, organics immortalised in plaster. My intention is to unearth a sense of curiosity, inspiring those who see my work to look closely to discover the intricacies of the natural world.”

Using the medium plaster bas-relief, Danielle presents a curated collection of botanical Plaster Pills. Meticulously gathering flowers, herbs, and foliage, she presses them into a carefully prepared clay surface. When removed an impression is left in the clay, into which she pours plaster. Each Pill is unique and can be displayed standing on any flat surface, serving both ornamental and functional purposes. With the option to infuse essential oils, each Pill can become a subtle diffuser.

Danielle has featured in a number of regional art shows, including the 2015 Hume Contemporary Art Award (Artspace, Wodonga) and was a finalist in the 2015 Wangaratta Textile Art Award.
