Friday 7 August, 10—10.45M
In this Little Artists session, participants will explore multi-media clay creations inspired by the artworks in the current NAIDOC Week Benalla Exhibition.
Using clay and organic materials, participants will create diorama-esque models of somewhere they like to visit or home, which may include people, animals, or structures.
Materials: sticks, seeds, bark, leaves, air-dry clay, wood, oil pastes, sand, glue.
Definitions and Learnings: This activity encourages the development of fine motor skills via construction, as well as the ability to identify and make shapes to form an image. Children will learn about 3D art, sculpture and using found objects to make art. Children are also encouraged to reflect on themselves and the world around them, through viewing and creating artworks.
Ages: For pre-school aged children and their parents/carers
Cost: FREE
Registration essential: Book online below, call 03 5760 2619 or email gallery@benalla.vic.gov.au
Where: Pop-Up Benalla Art Gallery, 75 Bridge St.
Benalla Art Gallery’s Little Artists program is developed specifically for pre-school children. We use games, story-telling and creative activities to encourage young children, and their parents and carers, to have fun while learning about art.
Sessions are free and are scheduled for the first week of each month from February to December.
