Exploring the beautiful imagery in the current photographic exhibition Oculi: Act I-VII and particularly the zines and books featured in the show, children and their guardians will explore narrative and the telling of their own stories through pictures. Using a variety of mediums little artists will learn to turn their stories into a quirky and fun ‘little artist’ book to take home. Children are encouraged to bring a photo from home to include!
Materials:
Paper, glue, pencils, stamps, pens, collage pictures, bring your own pictures.
Mat Time:
Together we will read Round Trip by Ann Jonas discovering creative and visually exciting ways to tell stories using pictures and images in black and white. Bold contrasts in shapes and colours will highlight composition and spark imagination. Children talk about a day trip they have taken with their friends or family and what pictures they saw along the way. This clever book can be tipped upside down to reveal another narrative.
