In this session, Little Artists will explore sound art through Daniel O’Toole’s ‘Voices from the Void’ Exhibition. Little Artists will move through the space, hearing the sounds swirl from the artworks on the wall. We will settle down to a story accompanied by gestures and sound. For our hands-on art activity, children will create their own sound artwork designed to make noises when it moves.

Materials: paper plates, beans, popcorn, bells, stickers, ribbons, string, toilet rolls, jar lids, elastic bands, pipe cleaners, metal washers, wooden sticks, buttons.

Mat Time: We will read the timeless children’s story ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ and learn simple arm gestures to create a sound scape using Daniel O’Tooles voice drums. This sound scape will accompany our story and we will learn how many elements can work together to create interesting forms of art.

Benalla Art Gallery’s Little Artists program is developed specifically for pre-school children. We use games, story-telling and creative activities to encourage young children, and their parents and carers, to have fun while learning about art.
