Let’s explore texture and colour to create yarn pictures on canvas. Little Artists can use their imagination and creativity to make unique designs, patterns and pictures. There is no right or wrong way, just have fun!

Materials:

Yarn, canvas, PVA glue, felt pieces

Mat Time:

This textile focused activity is inspired the beautiful Bush Diwan exhibition currently on display in the Bennett Gallery, which features intricate embroidery and performance works using yarn. Little Artists will be introduced to the colourful works in the exhibition and learn about the artists, before being guided through the art activity.

Benalla Art Gallery’s Little Artists program is developed specifically for pre-school children. We use games, story-telling and creative activities to encourage young children, and their parents and carers, to have fun while learning about art.
Sessions are free and are scheduled for the first week of each month from February to December.
