Each summer the National Gallery of Victoria [NGV] works with regional galleries to offer FREE art activities to children and families. Kids can explore the works of NGV artists then create their own art.
Activities this year include:
Creating and drawing symbols inspired by Jenna Lee, a Gulumerridjin [Larrakia], Wardaman and Karajarri Saltwater woman with Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and Anglo-Australian ancestry. Her paper lanterns shaped like dilly bags were exhibited in Melbourne Now.
Artists and wildlife carers Gracia Haby and Louise Jennison have selected images of native Australian plants and animals that kids can cut, paste and collage to create a home for the greyheaded flying fox.
Daniel To and Emma Aiston are designers that see things differently – when they see a peanut; they imagine a table! They have made a drawing activity that encourages creativity and problem-solving. Kids will design an object inspired by their favourite food using Daniel and Emma’s tips and tricks
Ages: 4–12
Children under the age of 9 must have a carer present to assist
