In this workshop students will take inspiration from images of Australian birds including local native birdlife. Students will be led through a series of technical steps to create an acrylic painting of an Australian native bird of their choosing, on round boards. Participants will learn composition, colour mixing, fine motor and brush control and brush selection.

Brooke Whelan is a Beechworth-based artist who draws her inspiration from nature. Brooke’s use of expressive broad brush strokes and saturated vivid colours is a signature of her art making, capturing the joyful, fluid movements and character of the subject matter. Brooke is a qualified educator and creative, experienced in working with both children and adults.

Ages: 8–15
Children under the age of 9 must have a carer present to assist
