Familiar landscape and memory have been ongoing themes in Anthea Kemp’s painting process. From these themes, her interest in the physicality of painting and how particular motifs, marks and gesture formed from elements in the natural landscape inform her own work.

In these two workshops, participants will explore abstraction and become aware of how particular art elements can be used to create a painting. Anthea will guide you through the process of responding to a subject, whether it be a place, figure, or memory, and then begin the process of creating an abstract painting. During these workshops, you will be free to explore the qualities of gouache or acrylic paint and have the ability to tap into your imagination through expression.
