Image: Pauline FRASER printing blocks and fabrics

Saturday 22 July, 12.30–3.30PM

The art of block printing is an ancient craft still being practised today by many fabric designers as well as printmakers. In this fun workshop, we will experience being both printmakers as well as fabric designers, where participants can apply their designs to both fabric and paper. Imagine the thrill of inking up your own carved block and seeing how it prints! It really is addictive. The pieces of printed fabric could be later sewn into a cushion, apron, or a tea towel or just create a print on paper to hang on the wall.

Participants will need to bring along some small simple drawn designs such as leaves, flowers, insects, or geometric shapes to transfer to the 11x11cm sized block. From this block several small shapes could be cut that could be used together in your design.
