Gallery Shop
Vibrant floral abstract paintings by Wangaratta artist Fiona Adams will feature in the Gallery Shop throughout August. Knowing I Belong aim to evoke feelings of peace and joy for the viewer. Fiona’s brushstrokes create movement on her canvases, resulting in impressions of wildflowers dancing in fields.
Fiona began painting in 2018 with the goal of creating artwork to decorate her home. She is self-taught, and often uses everyday items from around the home to paint with. Fiona’s painting process is fun and energetic. She explains, “I sing and jig along to my favourite music as I splatter and allow the paint to land on the canvas. I do this repeatedly to create texture and movement.”
“There is excitement and wonder at not knowing exactly where or how it will land. I delight as it falls in just the right place, creating a unique mix of colour and shape. Next, I delicately form each unique flower until I am satisfied the scene is complete. I generally name my pieces with a thought that has captured my heart or a line of song that I have been singing as I paint.”
Fiona offers unique one-on-one workshops with disabled and elderly persons, harnessing the power of art to bring joy and enrichment to the lives of others. Fiona regularly exhibits her work at local and interstate art shows.
