Jane Coy presents a series of giclée prints based on her watercolour paintings inspired by the dramatic landscapes and wildlife of the Great Ocean Road. Accompanying the prints is by a selection of associated wildlife dioramas that reflect the region’s unique natural environment.
Born and educated in New Zealand, Jane moved to Australia in 1965. Although having no formal training, she maintained a lifelong interest in painting and sketching, continually nurturing a creative practice driven by observation and curiosity.
During the 1990s, Jane spent two years on the southern coast under the expert guidance of the late wildlife artist and whale-watcher Robert Ulmann. This period provided invaluable experience in watercolour, a medium that has remained her greatest passion, and deepened her connection to marine life and all aspects of nature.
Though painting opportunities have been constantly disrupted, Jane’s creative drive has remained steady. Working with wire and building with wood by hand continues to shape her practice and reflects her ongoing commitment to art in general.
The giclée prints are custom printed using Canon pigment inks, rated to last up to 200 years, on museum grade archival fine art paper.
The prints are available for purchase from Benalla Art Gallery Pop-Up, or by contacting the Gallery on: T 03 5760 2619 or gallery@benalla.vic.gov.au.
