Tie Dye Artwork

Wednesday 25 September (Tie Dying) 1.30—4PM
and Thursday 3 October (Batik) 10AM—12.30PM

Presented by the Benalla Migrants Association Inc, Batik and Tie Dye Artist Akhila Fernando will host two, one-hour workshops at the Benalla Art Gallery on each of these dates, teaching Tie Dye and Batik techniques to make artworks.

He will introduce participants to dyes, materials and methods for making an artwork. Dyes, fabric and instructions will be provided and one piece of artwork will be designed by each child during the workshop.

Akhila is an Australian-Sri Lankan artist and is located in Wangaratta. The Batik art heritage was passed down from his father who is a master batik artist in Sri Lanka. Akhila’s own Art brand ARTMORE provides various creative practices within regional Victoria.

Ages 5+
Children under the age of 9 must have a carer present to assist

Tie Dying: Wednesday 25 September 1.30—2.30PM and 3—4PM
Batik: Thursday 3 October 10—11AM and 11.30AM—12.30PM
