Benalla Art Gallery presents a suite of key figurative works from the Benalla Art Gallery Collection.
This exhibition explores the ways in which artists have depicted the human figure across time. Many of these works are of anatomical
interest, showing how the human body behaves in repose and in motion. On another level, these works highlight evolving social norms, such as fashion and self representation.
The inclusion of both historical and contemporary works also underlines a broadening of artistic style and intent when depicting another body.
