Violinist Jonathon Glonek and Pianist Nicky Poznak join forces to present an exceptional program celebrating Nocturne form and expression, in the beautiful surround and fine acoustic of the Benalla Art Gallery. This concert forms part of a series of public programs complementing the current exhibition Nocturne: Benalla Art Gallery Collection, which explores multiple interpretations of the theme ‘nocturne’, specifically focusing on the scenes, sounds, and movements ‘of the night’

The program will include:

  • Gabriel Faure Romance for Violin and Piano
  • Cesar Franck Sonata in A major for violin and piano Op. 13
  • Felix Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E major 

A thrilling selection featuring miniatures and Nocturnes by Chopin and Debussy will provide a wondrous contrast for the second half of the program.

About Nicky Poznak
Coming from a deeply musical family, Adelaide born pianist Nicky Poznak is one of the most exciting artists on the scene today. With a luxuriant deep, rich and powerful tone, and intense musical style, Nicky has won great acclaim with appreciative audiences. Currently pursuing PHD studies, she has been mentored by Anna Goldsworthy and Konstantin Shamray.

About Jonathon Glonek:
Jonathon began touring internationally at the age of twelve and has since developed as a gifted violinist and serious performer. He has presented many challenging and
serious programs in solo performances throughout Europe, the United States,
southeast Asia and Australia.

He has worked extensively organising and promoting serious classical
repertoire to novice audiences in the belief that this can be accessed as a valuable
experience by any person. Jonathon has been strongly committed to bringing
performance of classical music to regional, rural and remote communities in Australia and Southeast Asia.

As a performer Jonathon Glonek enjoys an unusually broad and flexible repertoire.
He is recognised for his intense personal style in presenting dramatic and impactful
accounts of these works. In the course of his performance career, he has attracted strong critical acclaim for his live performances across the range of this repertoire from J.S.Bach, classical sonatas, the romantic virtuoso medium and 20th century works.
