Since completing a Diploma of Fine Art in printmaking at Caulfield Institute of Technology (now a campus of Monash University) in 1974, Bill Young has forged a career as a master printer.
Across various Melbourne locations and later in his current studio in King Valley (established in 1990), Bill has collaborated with numerous artists. These have included one-off projects through to long-term working partnerships. In recent years he has mainly worked with Graeme Peebles, Geoffrey Ricardo and Anita Laurence (Bill’s wife). The studio is also Anita’s work space and she often assists printing other artists’ works.
Other artists Bill has worked with include Ray Arnold, David Band, Jon Cattapan, Rebecca W Driffield, Peter Ellis, David Frazer, Deborah Halpern, Treahna Hamm (Firebrace), Louis Kahan, Roger Kemp, Barbie Kjar, Geoff la Gerche, Michael Leunig, Nicholas Nedelkopoulos, Tommy Pau, David Rankin, John Spooner and Alick Tipoti.
