Join us on the first Monday in June for an introduction to artwork conservation by leading industry expert, Robyn Sloggett AM.  

Conservation is about preventing damage and loss to cultural heritage and in this talk, Sloggett will explain the work of Grimwade Conservation Services that is provided to institutions and private clients, and the importance of conserving public Collections. Examples of previous conservation outcomes will demonstrate what is possible in this ever-advancing field. 

Sloggett is Director of the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and the Cripps Foundation Chair in Cultural Materials Conservation. As part of Melbourne University, the Grimwade Centre is a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility. It is the leading centre in Australia for the conservation and preservation of important works of art, including culturally important pieces of Indigenous art. The centre undertakes vital restoration of treasured works of art and trains future generations of specialist art conservators. Sloggett is also a Professional Member of the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material, a designation only awarded to conservation professionals who meet the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.
